Faculty of Environmental Design
As a field of study, Environmental Design encompasses the built, natural, and human environments and focuses on fashioning physical and social interventions informed by human behaviour and environmental processes. The professional degree programs in Environmental Design work together to provide the skills and knowledge required to participate in a wide range of existing employment sectors, and to pioneer in new fields. Architects, Planners, Industrial Designers, Environmental and Urban Designers and Environmental Scientists can be found in architectural and urban design, construction, land development, environmental planning, ecotourism, energy management, wildlife and resource management, computer graphics and visual simulation, environmental modeling, urban management and finance, sustainable development, community planning, product design and manufacturing, transportation planning, building science, biotechnology, environmental health, environmental law and government policy roles.

- Clicking on the Design/Research tab takes the client to a web page with links for Design/Research Projects, Ethics Review, Research Reports, Master’s Degree and PhD Projects, MDP Search Engine and Faculty, Student, and Course Galleries.
- Design/Research Projects is an index of faculty and student design and research projects. It is divided into two sections between Faculty and Staff. These two sections are subdivided between Environmental Design, Environmental Science, Industrial Design, Planning and Urban Design. Each Faculty subsection is arranged alphabetically by name of faculty member with a PDF link to each of their projects. Clicking on the project links usually takes the client to full text documentation. The Student subsection links are not working at this time.
- Design/Research also contains links to Cities, Policy & Planning, which has a separate entry in the Housing Repository document, and Urban Lab. The Urban Lab takes on projects of various types and at various scales: Sustainable land use planning, Site planning and design, Community planning and design, urban design at various scales, Research on urban design and development topics. Links are provided to Projects, Publications and Newsletters. The Projects have a brief abstract describing the work and in some cases a PDF link to full text documentation of the project. “Publications” contains brief abstracts of the work and ordering information. “Newsletters” provides a PDF link to the full text of the EDVS (Faculty of Environmental Design) Urban Lab Newsletter.
- Research Reports – Archives provides a PDF link to biographical information on the students of the Faculty in 1996-1997 and the research they carried out.
- Master’s Degree and PhD Projects, MDP Search Engine is a searchable and indexed EVDS MDP database. This database contains MDP information and abstracts. Multiple parameters may be used to query the database.
- Clicking on People gives the client access to a directory of EDVS faculty and students. Faculty members are arranged alphabetically with a PDF link to individual web pages. In some cases, there are bibliographic citations of the works produced by Faculty members with PDF links to full text documentation.
- While clicking on EVDS Students does not take one to student web pages, it takes the client to a page with a link to EVDS video presentations. Here are arranged, in no particular order, a number of links to video presentations produced by the Faculty or students in the Faculty.
- Clicking on the different programs of the Faculty arranged in a left-hand sidebar gives access through different paths to the information described above.
