The Legislative Library supports the conduct of public affairs and the development of a well-informed society by providing efficient, effective, and impartial access to its specialized information resources for the Legislature, government, and people of Manitoba, and ensures current and future access to Manitoba's published heritage.

 

There are two service points, each with their own contact information and hours of service:

Hours:  During the Legislative Session, check the Assembly web site for session dates.  8:30 am. - 5:00 pm. Monday to Thursday; 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.., Friday.  During the intersession:  8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday

Materials are selected primarily to support the information needs of the Legislature and government in areas of law and legislation, politics and government, economic and social issues, and public administration and management.
All provincial government documents are collected.
In addition the Library requests one copy of all materials published in the province be deposited here for preservation purposes.

Manitoba trade publications (i.e. newspapers, books, magazines) from 1859- All Manitoba Government publications from 1870- Non-Manitoba publications as they pertain to the interests of the province and including selected materials published prior to 1870.

The Legislative Library’s online catalogue is available on the Internet and can be searched by general keyword, title, author, subject, series, etc. Catalogue records have URL access to the full text when available. A monthly checklist of new documents is available in chronological order. One can also browse new titles by topic.
