FPInnovations – Forintek

FPInnovations - Forintek Division is Canada's national wood products research institute. Established as a private, not-for profit corporation in 1979, Forintek is an amalgamation of two former public laboratories whose history dates back to 1913. Its role is to provide technological support to the forest products industry in optimizing manufacturing processes, extracting higher value products from the available resource and meeting customer's expectations of performance, durability and affordability.

Based on priorities identified by its members from the forest industry and governments, Forintek delivers technological solutions in such areas as lumber, panels, and other value-added wood products manufacturing processes or attributes, drying and protection, and building systems. It also conducts market and economic studies and plays a key role in the development of building codes and standards, both nationally and internationally.

Forintek delivers technology transfer through industry workshops and seminars, mill improvement studies, member specific training sessions, technical missions in Canada and abroad, software demonstrations, publications, advanced technology monitoring and commercialization of key technology.
