Reports and Publications

The Province of BC has centralized all housing information into one website. It incorporates the Building and Safety Policy Branch; Housing Policy Branch and the Residential Tenancy Branch. The publications available from each are compiled at this URL.

The Ministry’s Building and Safety Policy Branch is responsible for developing and implementing a legislative framework for regulating safety in the design, construction and occupancy of buildings. This branch works to balance the safety, economic and social concerns in building regulation for all British Columbians.

The Housing Policy Branch is responsible for developing provincial housing policy, strategies and programs and for providing policy advice on specific issues such as the residential construction industry, leaky condos, housing markets, social housing, homelessness, housing for persons with special needs, and the role of local government in housing. The branch also publishes research and guides on housing issues.

The Residential Tenancy Branch provides landlords and tenants with information and dispute resolution services. The information on this web site provides information on British Columbians’ rights and responsibilities under British Columbia's Residential Tenancy Act and Manufactured Home Park Tenancy Act.
