The Alberta Legislature Library has been serving the information needs of Alberta legislators since 1906. Located at its current site in the Legislature Building since the fall of 1911, it was once referred to as the Provincial Library.

The collection is particularly strong in the areas of Alberta and Federal government documents, Alberta newspapers, and Alberta history and politics. There is also an extensive collection of government documents from other Canadian provinces and territories. Other subject concentrations of note are in public administration, comparative politics, and political science. All provincial documents on housing are collected.

The collections of the Alberta Legislature Library are available for use by the people of Alberta. Library reference staff provides basic assistance with the collection and an informed reference staff. For general materials, it is recommended that members of the public consult their own public library prior to contacting the Legislature Library. All items in the collection may be used in the library. Upon special application a wide range of materials may be borrowed.

and may be searched by using the following access points:  general keyword, title, author, journal/newspaper title browse, etc.  Basic and power searching is available.
