Spring 2012 - Sustainable Housing and Communities Working Group

The NHRC's Sustainable Housing and Communities Working Group meeting was held on Monday afternoon April 23rd, 2012 at the Château Cartier Hotel, 1170 Aylmer Road in Gatineau.

The co-chairs, Mark Holzman of CMHC and Nathalie Doyon of the Société d'habitation du Québec (SHQ), opened the meeting. The first presenters, Danielle Juteau of Corporation d'habitation Jeanne-Mance, Brigitte Laliberté of Éco-quartier Saint-Jacques et Émmanuelle Hébert with Mu presented the renewal of the social housing project known as Habitations Jeanne-Mance. This was followed by a presentation on wood-based solutions as a technology option for building structures by Mark Lapointe of SHQ. Then, Leanna Falkenhagen from the Centretown Citizens Ottawa Corporation provided an overview of the development of Beaver Barracks and its many green sustainable features. This meeting was followed by a tour of sustainability projects in the area.
