The NHRC Full Committee Meeting was held Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 at the Albert at Bay Suite Hotel located at 435 Albert Street in Ottawa. Attendance at this meeting was by invitation only.

The Co-chairs, Steve Mennill of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and Kildy Yuen with the Alberta Ministry of Municipal Affairs, opened the meeting. The day began with provincial and territorial members reporting back on key housing-related research findings, issues or challenges that have arisen in their organization or jurisdiction. Next, the representatives of national associations presented their updates. This was followed by updates from representatives of federal government departments. Then, CMHC provided housing-related research updates from Policy and Research. The municipal representatives then presented their updates. This was followed by a presentation by Regional Councillor Clark Somerville of Halton Hills, Ontario. Following, Dr. Julian Somers, the representative of Simon Fraser University, presented the housing-related research and initiatives underway at that institution.
