Objectives/focus/mandate/mission: 

CMHC is Canada’s national housing agency. A government-owned corporation, it is Canada’s premier provider of mortgage loan insurance; mortgage-backed securities; housing policy and programs; and Canada's leading source of objective, reliable housing information and housing research.

CMHC works to enhance Canada's housing finance options, assist Canadians who cannot afford housing in the private market, improve building standards and housing construction, and provide policymakers with the information and analysis they need to sustain a vibrant housing market in Canada.

Through research, CMHC contributes to the well-being of the housing sector by offering:

- answers to questions about buying or maintaining a house, planning a renovation or adapting a home to meet changing needs;
- timely forecasts and detailed analysis of housing market trends, demographics and consumer preferences; and
-best practices in housing technology, construction and design to help guide the future of Canadian housing.

CMHC International supports and promotes the export of Canadian housing products and expertise by identifying market opportunities and providing practical information and advice to the housing industry.
