Provincial and territorial governments are also sponsors of research in addition to commissioning their own. For example, the provinces of Saskatchewan and Ontario now have a modest annual budget for external policy research proposals.
"Housing research draws on a number of diverse disciplines and professions including economics, building science and technology, geography, political science, planning and architecture, among others. The ongoing commitment and contribution made by members of the NHRC, through the Full Committee and the Working Groups, serves to increase our understanding of current and future housing patterns and how research affects policy and practice in measurable ways."
